FAQ

What is the 30 Day Evangelism Challenge?

The 30 Day Evangelism Challenge is just that -- 30 days with an evangelistic challenge each day. There are already lots of great resources for thinking about evangelism, but we'd like to encourage people to actually do evangelism.

It's also worth saying, right up front, that we don't think about evangelism the way that most people think about evangelism, with street corner preachers, or people knocking on doors with tracts. Rather, we believe evangelism is about living a life in response to the loving, liberating and life-giving way of Jesus. When you start there, evangelism practices start to look a lot more like the invitation of Jesus to live a fuller, deeper and more meaningful life, and less like coercion or guilt.

Each day, for 30 days, we'll post a new practice. Our hope is that each simple practice will increase your capacity to see where God is already working in your life, where God is already working in the world, and then enable you to roll up your sleeves and dive in.

As such, the challenge is in three stages:

Days 1-10: Looking In
Days 11-20: Looking Around
Days 21-30: Looking Out

You can check out our video introduction, too!

Will you run the 30 Day Evangelism Challenge again?
We hope that this will be the first iteration of  the 30 Day Evangelism Challenge. We hope to experiment and fine tune, so please stay posted for the opportunity to give us feedback and better ideas for simple good news practices.

Do I need to be Episcopalian?
Of course not! We happen to be Episcopalians, but you needn't be to participate. All who are hoping to be good news in the world are welcome to join in.

Does this fit into the Way of Love?
Of course it does! The 30 Day Evangelism Challenge involves a lot of the Way, including turning and learning and praying and going, but evangelism is primarily about blessing. This is a great resource for Bless.

Where can I connect with others who also care about evangelism?
Come join us on Facebook! Our group is Episcopal Evangelists.

Who are we?
The Rev. Tricia Lyons is the Missioner for Evangelism and Community Engagement at the Episcopal Diocese of Washington. The Rev. Becky Zartman is the Episcopal Missioner to Georgetown University. We try to love Jesus.

  2. I didn't get started at the beginning of the 30 days. Will this website still be available now that we're past the original days?
